Because this has Depp in it, I have hope that it will be worth seeing, however, if this is Alice returning to Wonderland why is it not called something besides the original story title?

They're afraid of it looking like "yet another sequel".

I have to admit that there really isn't anything that makes me say, "WOW". I watch it and just sort of go.."Eh".
Like Scorpy, I'm interested in seeing Depp, but I'm not sure that will be enough. Wasn't enough to get me Charlie and the Chocolate Factory OR Sweeney Todd.

I saw Alice on Friday night in 3D. I liked it. For the most part, the 3D was not obnoxious and added to the depth of the film. Only a few times did they pull the "throwing something at you" or "flying something by you" gag that I feel makes 3D more of a gimmick than an effective story-telling tool.

I'd better spoiler-proof my next few thoughts...
Click to Read Spoiler:
The comments prior to the release of this being a 'sequel' is a bit of a misnomer. The return aspect is somewhat downplayed, since Alice does not remember having previously been to Wonderland. In fact, much of the film is spent with her denying that she is The Alice of which they speak. She repeats that this is obviously a dream and therefore, none of this is real.

I was a bit disappointed by the ending, which came off feeling too modern for the Victorian era in which it was set. I really don't want to say any more except that Alice's final decision regarding a character in the Real World and its consequences seemed better suited for today. Also, they could have dropped the Mad Hatter's dance, which sounded and looked like some pop-and-lock from the 80s.

Johnny Depp was as I expected him in the role the Mad Hatter. I suppose after seeing him as Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy, a garishly-dressed and off-kilter Depp is not a shocker.

The Blue Caterpillar was excellently voiced by Alan Rickman, as were the Cheshire Cat (Stephen Fry), the Dormouse (Barbara Windsor) and the White Rabbit (Michael Sheen). I enjoyed the malevolence of the Red Queen (Helena Bonham Carter), but I wasn't sure of what direction the writers were taking the White Queen (Anne Hathaway). Pacifist, or a mistress of manipulation, you decide.

All in all, Alice in Wonderland is a visual treat that has a few rough spots.

I didn't have near as big an issue as a lot of people did with the dance. I will say that the 3-D came off as VERY gimmicky to me. I finally closed my eyes half way through Alice falling down the rabbit hole because I was getting a headache from all the crap that was flying at me. The problem is that the film wasn't shot in 3-D, and it shows. Any time they're in the real world, the 3-D looked like "Viewmaster 3-D". Yes, there was depth, but it was also flat. Other than that, though, I genuinely enjoyed the movie despite not being a Tim Burton fan over all.

Here's the important question, though, shaf. Did you get the Tron trailer when you saw it? I almost paid to see it again in 3-D just so I could see the trailer again.

Oh yes! Thanks for reminding me. That was freakin' awesome! Word is, Disney held it from on-line for the first week of Alice so that folks would go see it in 3-D.

I've read some vastly different reviews of this film . Some people love Johnny Depp, others don't. I'd love to see him bring he's unique directing sensibilities to something different. Alice in wonderland is really great and wonderful movie! I just watched it in 3D. You must watch it and You can watch also it online for free.
