I enjoy First Contact. Thought it was a pretty good Star Trek action film and I like it when they delve into the "history" that had been laid out.

The latest film, not a huge fan of. Thought it was a film made for the masses (meaning focus groups) by a guy that had certain visions, many of which that included lens flares unfortunately, and whether or not those ideas or visions made any sense was of little consequence.

I didn't think 11 was bad, but it was quite corny. Not one I would want on DVD.

'Corny' is as good a description as any. No, that one hasn't and wont make it to my shelf either.

If you buy any of the original films, make sure to look for the ones with all the commentaries. They are worth the price alone.

Lens flares aside and I think I remember even Abrams saying he went over board with them, so I think we can expect a lot less of them.

However, when I look at the most popular Star Trek & Star Wars films for that matter, I think the one ingredent they all have that most of the other films in both franchises is the lack of the "cutesyness"....No stupid jokes, no cut furry critters or dumb *** aliens, films like Khan and Empire take themselves very seriously and thus, I think they were better films for it.

Trek 11 had some of this cuteyness crap, but not enought to ruin the film but it did hold the film back from what could have been a very, very decent re-launch of Star Trek.

I am hoping they make a more serious film this go around.

First Contact was just "ok", but didn't really do much for me...

And as much as I thought I was going to hate this last movie, I actually really liked it, minus a couple screen flashes and the incredibly cheesy part with Nimoy...

For an even more honest moment, I used to really like the Trek movies, but they have really grown long in the tooth for me, they don't hold up well and seem very, very dated...

Regarding the Star Trek movies, Star Trek 2 is the best but really for me 2, 3 and 4 are an inseparable set. Those were the only Star Trek movies made that shared a common story path. I thought it was brilliant that they brought those out in a trilogy DVD set. Call me strange but I love Star Trek 3. For me, it's a close second to Star Trek 2. I guess maybe it's because Star Trek 3 was the latest film during the time I got into Star Trek in a big way. There's a special place in my soul for Star Trek 2 & 3. I do love them all though and even loved the latest one. I guess the only one I could possibly do without is Star Trek 5. Even with that said, there were moments in 5 that I did enjoy.

Damn, Trek 5 was aweful :puke:

It did have it moments, but for most part it was very forgetable.

Now Trek 6 did leave the TOS crew far better off as thier last film, but again, some of the stupid cutsyness prevented the film from really being top notch.

As far as the TNG films go, I could do without any of them. I dont own a single copy of a TNG film and have no desire to own one either.

I might check out 3 again, it's been about 15 years since I last saw it I think :)

I rather liked their 2nd and 3rd outing. Not a fan of the 1st and 4th.

'Generations' seemed to me like a poor variation on the "madman wants to destroy the world" plot.
'First Contact' was on par with the other decent Trek films, IMO (though not as good as say Khan or Country).
'Insurrection' was ok in a TV-movie sort of way.
'Nemesis' was just plain bad. I heard it was written by a fanboy, that wouldn't surprise me at all.

The second and third TNG Trek films did a reasonable job at what the Trek films have always tried to do IMO which is to make more mainstream sci-fi movies.
