My wife wanted to see it.

Watch the trailer, then drag the trailer out over a couple of hours. Smile once, film complete.

I'm sure that watching it with your kids will be more entertaining because you can watch them watch it, but otherwise, very dull humour.

OUCH! Pretty harsh. That's a shame. We could use a new well received holiday film. One of those "Everyone likes it" sort of thing. I can't think of anything since 'Home Alone'. (And I only thought it was OK)

Comparison is a bit difficult, because if I compare it to something I found funny when I was a kid, then I might have found this funny when I was a kid, and I might be finding those older childrens' movies funny out of nostalgia.

We don't have kids yet so I don't have a recent collection that I can readily compare this one to.

<Looking through various lists> The Incredibles was pretty funny and decent. The humour was a good blend of safe stuff that is for the kids, a bit of veiled adult humour to go over the kids' heads, and an original plot.

The TV movie 'The Hogfather'... probably (hmm, remembering certain bits now... parental discretion advised) a movie for kids too, Christmas'y too, another one to recommend.

I'm afraid to ask my wife whether she enjoyed it in case she notices that I dodged the question earlier :)
