Blockbuster, the rental chain, is looking at a new program that would charge more to rent DVD or Blu-Ray movies during the 28-day window before they’re available on other kiosks or on-line rental programs.

The higher price would be $2.99 per evening rental, according to the Associated Press.

On Tuesday, NCR Corp. began charging $2.99 for one night’s rental of a DVD of Warner Bros.’ “Inception” and 20th Century Fox’s “Knight and Day.” That’s more than the $1 more per night than other DVDs, but the consumer would get access to films a few weeks earlier.

“Inception” is being made available the same day it was released in the home video market for sale. “Knight and Day” was made available for sale a week ago.

The test is part of an ad campaign by Blockbuster dubbed “Less Waiting. More Watching.”

Only Blockbuster would have the audacity to offer up what sets them apart and charge you for it, all the while trying to reclaim their customer base.

Get it through your head BB...People like to pay LESS and the people who wanted to see the films before anyone else went to the theater!
