According to the Hollywood Reporter, the Wachowski brothers are taking there latest film, Speed Racer, to Studio Babelsberg in Germany for production and filming. V for Vendetta was also produced there.

Warner Bros. production is currently in preparation for an early May start date.

The film will follow the adventures of the young race car driver Speed in his quest for glory in his thundering gadget-laden vehicle, Mach 5. The movie will feature other characters from the show, including Speed's family and his mysterious archrival, Racer X.

The Wachowski brothers are writing as well as directing the film, which will be produced by Joel Silver.

"They are approaching these racing scenes in a way you've never seen before," said Silver.

Courtesy of firstshowing.net, is the reveal of the Mach 5 from the live-action movie.

shaf's take: Very snarky and very true to the cartoon.

Nice Shaf! Very nice. I'd drive that. Looks to come right off of a 70's Corvette maybe.

I was thinking that, too. The headlights look kinda' like units from a Honda Fit, but flipped upside down.

I just noticed the 'cooling' vents behind the front wheels, plus the curvature of the side panels.

The proportions (hood length, wheelbase, etc.) look right.
