I'm transplanting the contents of a PC to a new case because the old one is damaged. However, as well as using the normal system of screwing the board to the case using normal screws and those screw adapters (what are they really called?), it looks like that glue has been applied between the screw adapter and the underside of the board. There seems to be a white residue of the glue around the screwhole as well, but it is very slight.

The most obvious solution IMO is a bit of careful and gentle screwdriver wedging work, but there are some points on the board where this becomes very difficult. I'm wondering if there's some sort of debonding chemical that won't melt the board. The only one I know of is acetone but I believe that melts PCB.

Help!

Wow.
When he said "NO USER SERVICEABLE PARTS INSIDE", darn it, he meant it!

Generally speaking they are "standoffs" or "threaded spacers" with standoffs being the more common term.

As for the adhesive, if it is "hard" (like a typical epoxy...) at ambient temp then use heat, i.e., a soldering iron placed in the screwhead for increasing amounts of time with trials with the screwdriver to remove the screw...

If it is somewhat softer, then I've also had success with freezing items which makes the adhesive brittle and then it fractures under torque...

What qualifies as hard or soft is obviously subjective, try the tip of an Exacto blade into the material, easy penetration is "soft", moderate/difficult penetration is "hard".

If you're unsure which to try first, I suggest the heat, start with 10 second intervals until success or you feel as though you might be putting to much heat into the surrounding board. A little bit of flux in the screwhead will help transfer heat. Do be careful with how much heat you put into the board, it is possible to delaminate the board, but only with what I would call "a lot" of heat and more than what would normally break down the adhesive...

Here are some pictures I've taken. Only two screw points are affected. I thought this might help in getting further opinions. The ones that look silver'y are the problem ones, the gold-coloured ones are normal.

Problem solved, a bit of luck really. I did a bit more work as I described this morning, when one of the standoffs/threaded spacers became unattached from the board (not sure why). I then took the case apart so I could approach the final standoff/threaded spacer from the top of the case, noted that there wasn't any circuit pathways nearby, and wedged a wide screwdriver between the board base plate and the board, and it came apart with a tiny bit of effort.
