A while back many of you recall my rebuild of my Honda Shadow.
Well, the time has come again.
My '92 Ford F-150 is starting to mile out.
So what do I do?
New vehicles are so damn expensive.
I looked at the carcass of my first new vehicle I bought in 1982.
She's getting a full off frame rebuild and restore.
And restored back to original colours.

Should take about a year or two to do.

Hey, Scorp
You know the sad thing?
As much as I try to buy the parts this side of the border, and with our dollar being high, guess what?
The entire body, front to back, licensed restore items, minus doors, but including shipping from Ohio, is cheaper than a non-licensed body, minus grille, tailgate, hinges, seals and not including shipping from Burnaby.
Anyway, looks like I'll be pulling in all parts from the U.S.
Gonna add a few features it never had originally
A/C , a clock, and tach.
The bloody carpeting was 500 bucks in Canada, 147 in US, same part number.
Sickening
Will be starting on her next spring.
Regards,
NITE

You must be running into some trade tariffs or something that dont apply when you buy something in the States yourself.

Cool project, NITE! 8)

That is a solid, yet removable top on the Renegade, yes?

Like they say "It's a Jeep thing. Others wouldn't understand."

Love them Jeeps!

Actually, Scorp, it's called gouging.
Another dealer in Ontario wants 5600.
They haven't learned that our dollar is now on parity.
Even our gas prices aren't following our dollar, or should I say they are (the dollar goes up, the gas prices go up.)
That's Canada.

@Crow
Yes, it is removable, but that one is not going back on.
She's getting a front to back makeover, but restored to the black/white and Montana blue scheme she had in 1981.

The top will be white.
And a sunroof.
And it's gonna have a/c.

Thats the interior.
She's a wee bit rough.
But will add a few comforts.

NITE

Are gonna do a lift kit?

And if so, how high are you going and what size tires are you shooting for?

Sorry, Scorp no lift unless absolutely necessary.
Tires will be kumho 10.5 x 31.5
Think they'll fit as is but will do a small lift if required.
Cj's + lift = bad news.
Much like Cj's + v8's= bad news
Just keep center of gravity, and power where it should be on these gals.

Well been awhile, not enough time and too many projects.

To save descriptions and Scorps bandwidth, here's the link.

Be more pics tomorrow.

Do I understand correctly, are you replacing the entire body on that???

From here, it looks to be in very good shape (only minor rot here and there...) :?

I got bandwidth coming out my ears. So dont worry about it, post away.

I have a 99 Terabytes of bandwidth a month to use, currently we are getting close to 30 Gigabytes a month. So as you can see, I am only using a small drop in the bucket of bandwidth.

Cameras can lie.
Got a quote from a local spring place.
From the US I was told about 80 bucks a spring.
Here, get ready for this.

Ready?

$ 262 each.

I think I am getting my parts from south of the border.

NITE

Gonna give the frame a makeover.

A couple of my friends cannot understand how I keep the parts list in my head, as I haven't labelled anything.
Just the way I work.

Prices are starting to trickle in.
The shipping on the entire a/c module from Texas is cheaper than shipping a similar sized package from Calgary.
Unbelievable.

Well, bit more today.

Hope to have her to the frame tomorrow.
In the background is the universal motor puller.
An old 1965 cockshutt 1750 tractor.
The new tranny should be on its way this week.
