Got myself an iPod Touch
16GB version 1
paid the extra 19.99 and got the latest firmware. Only cost me 249 and 50 of that I paid in gift cards that I was just given. So it only really cost me 212 after taxes :)

My very soon to be 9 year old Daughter has been asking for an IPod, I am just afraid to spend that kind of money on something that she could easily lose or break.

You don't have to be 9 years old. I was in line behind someone at the Apple Store who was bringing his iPod in for service. "Stopped working after I threw it down the stairs" was what he told the Genius (that is what Apple calls its service techs but this guy should have been called a Saint). The tech got it working again and sent Mr. Clueless on his way with his iPod but still no Clue.

Meh!

Stairs!

In my time at PC World i was presented with a 3 week old desktop that had stopped working after its owner fitted water cooling....

It wasn't because the water cooling had leaked... No in fact it was 100% water tight, and kept everything fairly damn cool....

It was due to that fact that a 1" round hole had been drilled in the motherboard allowing the cooling system to be fitted easier!

I have to admit i have both a shuffle and classic version of the iPod, and they go almost everywhere with me.

You know, all these funny looking "traces" on this motherboard can't really be for any real, important purpose, as long as I miss all of the components on the board, I should be able to modify it without really affecting anything, right???

OMFG!!!

DOH! Reminds me of a guy who tried to return some parts he bought from a store I worked at years ago. He didn't put the heatsink on the CPU. He took a coat hanger, looped it through the 4 corners of a fan (80mm) and screwed it to the inside of the case so that the fan was pointing at the CPU. Luckily it was an Intel chip and putting the heatsink on resolved the powering off issue.
