Sam Raimi has left Spider-man 4 and Toby Maguire followed.

Sony, taking a lead from countless comics, now plans to completely reboot the franchise taking Peter Parker back to high school and starting over.

To topic, rumors now are pointing that Raimi will start work on the Warcraft movie.

It wasn't really announced till WoW was in it's second or third year. There was the announcment that Blizzard was in no way going to let Uwe get his hands on it last year, and then not to long ago they announced Raimi was going to be at the helm of it, but it was going to be after Spider-Man 4.

No, I'm near Columbus, OH. I drove to Lexington, KY to be an extra in Disney's Secretariat (in theaters this fall), so a hike to our neighbors to the north to be in another major release would be worth the trip.

I was never enamored with the casting from the very first film. After three films finished, the die has been cast – I’m not sure the franchise can be saved.

Marc Webb has been slated to direct,and with very little work under his belt, but including the rather well done and pretty darn good , 500 Days of Summer, I' m not sure what to think.
Poor Spider-man has been restarted SO many times in the comics... Only 10 years since the 1st film also makes it a little iffy. No one has had time to "forget" the first 3 films. This is kind of like the Hulk movies. Except that the 1st Spidey film was actually kind of good.

Even the second film was good. I think after the spectacular crap that was the third film (pun intended), people want to forget it.

I'd be willing to bet they go more with the Ultimate setting, with Peter Parker as a teenager and a much more modern setting. Just please god, nothing based on that crap that is "reality" television (looking at you again Spider-Man 3).
