A friend's gfx card has died. He would like a replacement PCI-E graphics card, nothing particularly special, except that it needs to drive two monitors and be passively cooled. He had a GeForce 8500 (unknown type, Asus brand) until recently.

I don't know what Nvidia call the 'dual head' feature, I think that's Matrox's term for it. I was thinking about something like a GeForce 9500GT but I'm stuck on the dual monitor bit.

I think I've found what I'm going to suggest:

http://www.gainward.com/main/vgapro.php?id=125
http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/1GB-Gain ... I-DL-DVI-I
http://www.cclonline.com/product-info.a ... id=gsearch

AFAIK Gainward is a reasonably decent brand?

I've had a Gainward before, worked decent enough and didn't fail, 'just outgrew it... I also haven't heard anything from others about anything bad...

As far as "dual head", isn't just about everything out there capable of supporting dual monitors anymore???

The passively cooled thing is a ***** though, it essentially puts your customer at the bottom of the barrel performance wise...

Apparently not. Some cards have two inputs but are only capable of driving one device at a time, though I suspect once you get past the budget range they do. My friend wants it for apps only AFAIK, his gaming needs are ancient.
