OH MY FLIPPIN'..........!!!!!!

Just watched the premier.. They have lost NOTHING since last year!

The walker herd scene was some of the most tense moments I have felt watching television!!
I was literally on the edge of my seat.

Those early moments however did make the relationship drama scenes feel out of place and a bit annoying. I know they needed to be somewhere for the sake of the over all character arcs, but.. ah well.

All was forgiven in the closing few minutes. Holy crap!! Holy crap, HOLY CRAP!!!

I enjoy the show, but the inconsistencies drive me insane:

Where was the herd when noisy bastard on the bike rode past? having a siesta?

How come this season the zombies have lost their sense of smell? Last time they had to cover themselves in guts to stop being smelled out, now they just have to hide under cars?

Why are they pissing around with POS vehicles with a whole freeway of better ones to pick from?

They are siphoning cars when there's whole gas stations around and tankers to take (and drive away), messing around with six shot revolvers and bolt action rifles when they must have passed gun shops and armories (not to mention 100s of dead soldiers) with hi capacity semi auto handguns, flamethrowers, and full auto machine guns with all the ammo they'll ever need.

Etc, etc...

OK, I think some of your points are valid but some are a little nit-picky.

The armories I'm guessing were pretty picked through pretty quick after the outbreak and the gas stations only work if there is power.

They covered themselves in guts because they actually had to walk right through the herd. Maybe just scent isn't enough. I smell things but don't necessarily know where the smell is coming from.

I think since we are talking about a show surrounding the zombie apocalypse we have to hand wave quite a bit for the sake of drama.

I still think the hiding under the cars while the herd shuffled past was incredibly tense. Great bit of TV time there.

Trouble is, if I made a Zombie apocalypse film it would be about 10 minutes long and 9 of those would be the credits 8)

Is it me or did those 2 zombies almost run?

Never a good idea to fumble with small parts when you need to be very quiet.

Last night was epic. They ninja their way into the FEMA medical trailer, distracting the walkers with road flares (Oooooooooo pretty!) load up with gear and proceed to leave, forgetting the distraction ploy, making more noise than a brass band.

Sorry,.. I thought this was a great episode as well and with much less hand waving needed.
The distraction ploy worked when they had cover, coming out of a trailer with no view to the outside made it impossible. Once spotted I think they could of made as much as a little noise as they wanted. Their asses where cooked.

Critically if I may,...

The thing that I really like about this show is the fact that it deals with more than zombies and gore. The characters have heart, they have issues and the show doesn't shy from that. Rick CAN be too much of a goodie-goodie to the point of being farcical and I think that this episode in particular helped bring him down to believable again. He is our hero and the one stuck hanging out in the safety of the farm while all his companions take the risks for him. I can't think of any other action genre show that wouldn't have had the hero galloping with guns blazing to save his boy and make it all a happy ending.

Speaking of happy endings, or the lack thereof. I think the next time we see that little girl she will have flesh dripping from her lips. Maybe we will see a call back to Night of the Living Dead and the poor mom will meet her end by the teeth of her precious daughter.

Holy Hannah!! OK, I'm not going to say I didn't see that coming, but what the...??

'Chupacabra' was an OK episode. One of their "fillers" I think, except that we are really starting to see everyone start to come apart at the seams now. This dysfunctional little groups is better when the adrenalin is flowing and they don't have time to think. Now that they do they start to question everything.
Click to Read Spoiler:
I almost had a heart attack when they shot Daryl. He has become a favorite character of mine and this show is not above killing someone off just when you think they might have something more to contribute.

Oh, and walkers in a barn? Why? How? WHY????

I'm guessing it is a case of either them being family and/or friends and Herschel being too much of a believer to put down any of "God's creatures".

Looking forward to finding out this weekend. This is one of the few shows that I honestly "can't wait" till the next episode.

There sure were some shocking events in this episode:

Click to Read Spoiler:
Who could have known that Herchel was hoarding nukes in the barn and guarding them with walkers! He seemed like such a nice old man. Guess you never know a megalomaniac when you see one.

And we finally find out what the CDC scientist whispered to Rick! Rick was sure shocked to be recognized from his grad school days when he was studying bio genetics and working on the little "immortality" virus. Oh, it always seems like a good idea at the time, doesn't it Rick?

And Maggie. Wow. I bet Glen never figured she could do THAT.

Of course I was sleep deprived and on cold medicine while I was watching it so I may have gotten a few things mixed up.....
 Hope it made more sense to the rest of you ;)
