As of this post, 14 people are reported dead and over 50 people wounded from a early morning shooting at the Century 16 theater in Aurora, Colorado during a screening of The Dark Knight Rises.

Everyone here at Jonja.net would like to express their sympathies to the victims, the witnesses and their family and friends after this mornings horrible events at the Century 16 theater.

Many members of the Jonja community call Aurora Colorado home or a home away from home and truly feel for everyone on this sad day.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I have one friend MIA, but I doubt she would have been there.
Its freaking creepy when these things happen but even creepier when they happen at places that you know.

When I saw the headline this morning, the first thing I thought of was the contest you guys were running for tickets for a preview screening. I though “Oh my God no”, jumped over to the site and realized it was a different night.

We’ve all seen tragic and senseless events like this happen, but as TL said, it makes a big difference when it happens in your own “back yard”. I think the most telling remark I read was a woman outside the theater saying “it was just a bunch of families out at the movies for some fun”. People always wait to hear the perpetrators reasons and motives, but we’ll never be able to fully understand because reasonable, sane people don’t cross that line.

I was in Glenwood Springs,CO on business when I woke up in my hotel room and turned on the TV and got the news for the first time.

I was shocked, saddened and then angry for reasons that we can talk about later, today is not the day for that.

Of course finding out if anyone I knew was at this show was paramount, thankfully everyone I know is safe.

There are no words that any of us can give to comfort those that have lost loved ones, we can only try to be supportive each of us are capable of offering and pray for those still fighting for their lives.

I was brought to tears when I heard the news and said a prayer for the victims, families, and friends. I just can't imagine what it was like for the ones there and the families who sent their loved ones off to have a good time and then learn what happened.

I found out that KLOVE, a national Christian radio station, just happened to have several of their people in Denver helping out with Sharefest at the time of the shooting. They, as well as many others, are helping out as much as they can.

This is awesome news.. Warner Brothers has voluntarily donated a "substantial" amount of money to the victims of last Friday's shooting. The amount was not specified and is being kept private for the sake of the families, but reports from people who have more information say it is a "VERY substantial" amount.

HUGE kudos to WB for doing this! It is refreshing to see a company like that stepping up and doing something like this.

I had a feeling they might do something like this. I just sure hope nobody tries to blame the movies, actors, directors, studio or otherwise – this man is way off his rocker, and it has nothing to do with “Batman”.
