The cast and creators of Syfy's Alphas talks about what exactly IS an 'Alpha'.

Also,
Azita Ghanizada and Warren Christie talk about guest stars and the idea of a 'Alphas/Warehouse 13' crossover in this exclusive interview.

Of all the mutant X-MEN and clone shows, I found the Alphas characters to be so annoying that I stopped watching, and don't care what makes an Alpha an Alpha. It's a shame that Mutant X got shutdown by the courts for being a little too similar to x-men. It was probably the best of these clone shows.

Yeah, have to agree to some extent with you there. I don't know if things have changed on the show, but I couldn't find any character to "like" and all of the characters seemed to have the same issue! Got tired of it pretty quick.
I watched the first 3 episodes I think and then came back to watch the Summer Glau episode to find that little had changed. I have not bothered to watch any of beyond that and would have to hear some pretty stunning reviews before I'd go and try it again.

I watched some of Mutant X. It was an enjoyable show. Not the best and I think it fell into the sort of sub-genre with shows like Viper, MANTIS, and Night Man, but on the whole watchable.
