It looks pretty cool but with a price tag of $96 USD, it will be out of my price range for a while.

Yeah, you may want to wait till GenCon next year and hope for a price drop. Looks really beautiful though.

Why would someone try to make and market a board game based on an obscure B-movie and then try to charge a premium price for it????

I think it is far less obscure over in Europe, which has an incredibly HUGE board gaming community. The high price may just be because of the 'import' costs. It is only 40 Euros.
