Jonja.net reviews and discusses the new film from Duncan Jones, Moon.
This is Duncan Jones' first feature film, and it doesn't show. Coming from the son of David Bowie and whose past work mainly consisted of commercials and music videos you would expect a frenzied short attention span film or for it to be way too far out there to make much sense. OZ: The Great and Powerful
With OZ: The Great and Powerful, Disney returns to the world of OZ created by Frank Baum and made famous in the 1938 MGM movie The Wizard of Oz. That movie, initially disliked by movie goers and critics, would over the years gain some measure of respect.
This time around there is not a Dorothy or Toto around to be seen. Instead in a story based partly on ideas from later Baum books and as much from the MGM film as corporate lawyers would allow, we get to see how Oz (Oscar Diggs, played by James Franco) goes from a carnival sideshow magician just one step ahead of disaster to something much greater.
