"King of the B's" has been selected to receive an honorary Oscar for lifetime achievement!
Roger Corman, whose films where favorite targets of Mystery Science Theater 3000, will be receiving an honorary Oscar for life time achievement!
Corman once dubbed 'The Orson Welles of Z-movies' is now 83 and very surprised at being selected for the honor, "I predicted that I would not win because I make low-budget films, and I felt the academy would not give an award to someone who made low-budget films. I was truly surprised when I got the call"*
Some of the more famous of Roger Cormans work is 1960's Little Shop of Horrors starring a young nobody named Jack Nicholson, and several small films based on the works of Edgar Allan Poe including The Pit and the Pendulum(1961) and The Raven(1963) both starring Vincent Price.
